The seed was planted when Sam and James, two old University friends, decided to have a friendly competition: Who could create the most innovative digital design? Long story short, their cheeky conquest of survival of the fittest developed into a cutting-edge collaborative collection of menswear, art and accessories called Itokawa Film. Sam and James are currently based in trendy Dalston, London. They are both working on evolving Itokawa Film into a lifestyle brand through working with music producers, furniture designers, sunglasses companies and shoemakers in addition to expanding their solo lines. I’m really hoping a womenswear line comes about in their upcoming evolution! This brand has an unavoidable “cool factor” that stems from their juxtaposition of East London grit and digital futurism. “Fresh off the success of their “RGB Fabulous Landscapes” exhibition at Milan Design Week this year, Italian creative duo Carnovsky have been commissioned to create an installation within Missoni‘s Milan showroom. Taking cues from the legendary Italian brand’s geometric patterning, Carnovsky presents “Zigzagging,” a dazzling, psychedelic RGB light show that consumes the whole of the space. The light patterns change hues throughout the day, creating a color-washed atmosphere for visitors.”

Michael David Adams used layering and mirror imagery to create INKT, a mesmerizing synthesis of photography and illustration inspired by the power of nature and fluidity. Like blots of paint in a Rorschach tests, the image seems to morph with time, taking the viewer on a a subliminally-driven journey. “Tell me what you see” said the psychiatrist. Well, Doctor, I first see an insect, then a blooming flower, or maybe it’s multi-armed totem pole deity from another dimension! The Vogue Festival -

The atmosphere was dripping in fashionistas. With eager-to-learn students mingling amongst world renown designers and bloggers, you could nearly taste the creative energy!

While deciding on a lecture to attend, I chose someone who I’ve known to share a romantic and somewhat nostalgic approach to his work-creative director of Lanvin, Alber Elbaz.

Alber Elbaz seduced the audience with memorable, and such quotable quotes like “I like to be perfect, but I don’t like perfection. I think it’s dangerous. There’s nothing after perfect” and my personal favorite, “Connections can take you to the doors, but never to the ceiling.” In a packed hall full of people, Alber had the self deprecation of a true Londoner, making the lecture hall feel like an intimate one-on-one conversation over coffee. He was relate-able, and to witness his charisma was simply inspirational.

Having the pleasure of meeting one of my favorites, Susie Lau from Style Bubble, was a definite highlight of mine. Though I appear cool, calm, and collected in the photo above, I still feel like such a giddy school girl about sharing the same breathing space with such a legend. Suz (that’s what I call her now that we’re obviously best friends) was rocking the holographics in a major way as she hovered around the premises (because yes, ladies and gentlemen, Susie Lau doesn’t walk like the rest of us peasants, she HOVERS!) To claim her as a total girl crush would be the understatement of the century.

Among my celeb encounters was a heart melting shoulder rub with the statuesque hunk of meat, David Gandy, who happens to be the world’s most in-demand male model. Girls were practically drooling over him as they stumbled in their Monolo’s to take photos of the sexiest man they have/will ever see in the living flesh for their entire lives. If I told you he was even more striking in person, would you believe me? A creature like David is legitimate proof that there is indeed some sort of higher being looking out for the greater good of (wo)mankind…Daisy Lowe was also in the area at the moment, but I was too busy picking my jaw up off the floor to even notice. Embarrassing…
